Gordon and Betty Moore Postdoctoral Fellows in Condensed Matter Theory at the Stanford Institute for Theoretical Physics

Applications are invited for the Gordon and Betty Moore Postdoctoral Scholars in Theory of Quantum Materials at the Stanford Institute for Theoretical Physics (SITP) beginning in Fall 2023. This postdoctoral program is part of the Moore Foundation’s Emergent Phenomena in Quantum Systems initiative (EPiQS). We seek exceptional theorists who will flourish in, and contribute to, the highly interactive and collaborative materials research environment at Stanford. The appointment includes a competitive salary and benefits, and $4,000 annually in discretionary funds to cover research and/or travel expenses. These are awards for up to three years of funding. Prospective candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, publication list and outline of research interests, and should arrange for three letters of reference to be sent electronically through  Applications from women or minority candidates will be particularly welcome. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2022. Please include a CV and letters of reference from at least one and no more than four referees.  We expect to be able to make offers to successful candidates in early December. About the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and EPiQS Initiative
The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation believes in bold ideas that create enduring impact in the areas of science, environmental conservation and patient care. Visit or follow @MooreScientific. The foundation’s $90-million EPiQS initiative promotes discovery-driven research in the field of quantum materials ( Through a variety of funding approaches, EPiQS aims to enable a community of leading experimentalists, materials synthesis experts and theorists to maximize their potential to explore, discover and understand emergent behavior of complex quantum matter. EPiQS supports theoretical research by focusing on postdoctoral and visiting scholars at several leading institutions in the field. The Moore Postdoctoral Scholars in Theory of Quantum Materials program supports some of the most promising theoretical physicists at an early stage of their careers. The Moore Postdoctoral Scholars are provided with a significant independence in selection of their research directions within their departments and can acquire a breadth of expertise by working with multiple faculty members.

Stanford University is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer, committed to increasing the diversity of its workforce. It welcomes applications from women, members of minority groups, veterans, persons with disabilities, and others who would bring additional dimensions to the university's research and teaching mission.
