Quantum spin chains provide a rich set of theoretical models of experimental relevance and theoretical beauty. They are also now remarkably accessible with the advent of large language models and “vibe coding”. I’ll discuss my experiences using LLMs as tools to assist in studying such a quantum spin chain problem, and how this AI skeptic (the speaker) became convinced it can be powerfully enabling. We will use these tools to help understand an intriguing quantum phase transition in this chiral chain.
